El Born, Barcelona

Private Dining with Live Opera

One table, two to ten guests, behind an unmarked door in the old city. A Michelin-trained tasting menu, and a Metropolitan Opera soprano singing between the courses without a microphone.

Not a restaurant

There's no dining room full of other people, no à la carte, no walk-ins. You book the whole table and the whole evening. The room seats ten at most, which is the entire point — at that size a soprano doesn't need amplification, and a chef can build a menu around the specific people sitting down.

The location is in El Born, among the medieval streets between Santa Maria del Mar and the Born market. Guests get the address after booking.

What you're booking

The evening, in practical terms

2 to 10 guests

Private groups only. Birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, a dinner for two, or a company taking the whole table.

A tasting menu

Contemporary cooking with Mediterranean and Italian roots, by a chef trained at L'Autre Pied and Oro at Hotel Cipriani. Drinks paired course by course.

Live opera, unamplified

Arias sung between courses by a soprano who made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Amina in La Sonnambula. From a few feet away.

Dietary needs

Allergies and restrictions are built into the menu rather than subtracted from it — possible only because the table is small.

Corporate dinners and weddings

Private events are arranged outside the normal waiting list. If you're planning a company dinner, a rehearsal dinner or a wedding in Barcelona and want something guests won't have done before, book a consultation and we'll talk through dates, numbers and what the evening could be.

Current availability

Every table is currently reserved. The next date opens in November 2027. The waiting list is the only route to a seat, and it's also how cancellations are filled — people who marked themselves flexible are contacted first.

Who hosts it

Chef Riccardo Riccio, who trained in Michelin-starred kitchens in London and Venice, and soprano Alexandra Nowakowski, who sings at the Metropolitan Opera. They founded The Opera Kitchen together.
